Galapagos Cruises

The only way to visit the Galapagos is by boat with a tour group; beyond that, your choises are limited to what kind of boat: prices vary widely, as does service. Visiting the Galapagos is probably the most expensive thing you'll do in Ecuador, but if you plan it right and run with good weather, a good guide and friendly companions, it can easily be one of the most amazing things you will ever do.

Tour boats are clasified into five categories Tourist, Tourist Superior, First Class, Premium First Class and Luxury; and trips from four to eight days (Arrival and Departure day are counted as tour days). Prices range from $750 USD p/p for a five day economy/tourist class trip to $5000 USD p/p for eight days on a luxury class vessel. Unless you're really strapped for cash or time, five days should be the minimum length of time you coinsider.
It may lessen the stig to know that these prices include food, accommodation, transfers to and from the boat, trained guides and all your shore visits. You'll have to pay extra for airfair to and from the islands, insurance, gratuities, souvenirs, and alcoholic or soft drinks on board.

Itineraries are strictly controlled by the National Park Service to regulate the impact of visitors on the delicate sites. this means stcking to a tight schedule, so if sometimes feel as if you are being herded, well, you are - in theory, for the good of the islands.

Blue Footed Boobie

The only valid reasons on most boats for altering an itinerary are medical emergencies and bad weather. Both the availability of space and the weather in the Galapagos may affect when you choose to go to the Islands. Most boats fill up months, or even years ahead of time for July, August, December and early January. Other times of the year availability is greater.

Have a Galapagos tour consultant assist you in organizing your Galapagos Holiday, we're happy to help you.
