Introduced by the Spanish Conquistadors, horses are still a principal means of transport for a large part of the rural population. Riding through areas of outstanding natural beauty and history and staying in haciendas, village hostals or tents at night, you will come close to the lives that most of the local and indigenous people of Ecuador live.
