Hiking on Guagua Pichincha
The Pichincha Volcano is made up of 3 peaks our acclimatization
hike is on the 3rd peak Guagua Pichincha 4700 meters. This volcano
stands over Quito and has a long history of eruptions. From the
edge of the paramo we start hiking it takes about 4-hours to reach
the summit, where we stand on the edge of the active crater. To
reach the top there is a 2-meter scrabble, but no equipment is needed.
From the summit we have an excellent view of Quito below us and
the "Avenue of Volcanoes" to the south.
Guagua is particularly prone to clouding in and sudden storms.
