Hiking on Guagua Pichincha

The Pichincha Volcano is made up of 3 peaks our acclimatization hike is on the 3rd peak Guagua Pichincha 4700 meters. This volcano stands over Quito and has a long history of eruptions. From the edge of the paramo we start hiking it takes about 4-hours to reach the summit, where we stand on the edge of the active crater. To reach the top there is a 2-meter scrabble, but no equipment is needed. From the summit we have an excellent view of Quito below us and the "Avenue of Volcanoes" to the south.

Guagua is particularly prone to clouding in and sudden storms. Ask your guide for the story of the peak called Padre Encantado .

Safari also offers a Day Adventure to Guagua Pichincha.
